What are Dedicated Hosting Servers?
When we talk about hosting servers, there are three basic varieties - shared hosting web servers, VPS (private virtual web servers) and dedicated hosting servers. Shared web hosting servers host multiple clients and thus the resources per hosting account are limited, virtual private server accounts give you more configuration freedom, but also influence other VPS servers on the hardware node if utilized rashly, and dedicated servers offer you the chance to do everything you like without messing with anyone else.
Why would you need a dedicated hosting server?
16 GB DDR4 ECC REG RAM
2x240 GB nvme Hard Drives
32 GB DDR4 ECC REG RAM
2x480 GB nvme Hard Drives
Dedicated servers are commonly much more expensive than shared servers or VPS servers. Why would anyone, then, want to use them? The answer is very simple. If your firm has a high resource-demanding website, or just has very precise server configuration requirements, the most logical option would be a dedicated server. For somebody who is prepared to invest in security and reliability, the higher price is of no concern. You are given root access and can utilize 100% of the server's system resources without anyone else availing of these resources and meddling with your web portals.
Hardware specs
Most shared hosting vendors, including us at Polonia Servers, provide several hardware configurations you can select from as per your requirements. The configurations include different sorts of microprocessors, a different number of cores, different RAM and server hard disk sizes and different traffic usage quotas. You can pick a web hosting CP, which is a convenient interface if you want to use the dedicated hosting server for website hosting purposes solely and choose not to resort to a Secure Shell terminal for all the changes you will be making. We provide 3 types of web hosting Control Panel software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.
The hosting CP of your choice
If you are a confident Linux user (our servers are powered by Linux or other Unix-based OSs), you could administer your dedicated server via a Secure Shell console exclusively. That, however, could be awkward, especially if you wish to give complete root-level access to somebody else who has less technical expertise than yourself. This is why having hosting CP software activated is a brilliant idea. The Hepsia web hosting CP user interface that we provide does not give you root access and is mostly suitable for someone who owns plenty of web sites that absorb lots of resources, but prefers to manage the websites, databases and emails through a user-friendly web hosting CP. The DirectAdmin and cPanel hosting CPs, on the other hand, give you complete server root access and have 3 levels of access - root, reseller and user. If you plan to resell hosting accounts rather than utilizing the hosting server just for yourself, you should choose one of these two.
Server monitoring and backup services
Last but not least, there is the issue of monitoring the dedicated hosting server and of backing it up. In case of a problem with your dedicated hosting web server, like a non-responsive Apache or a network outage, it is advisable to have some sort of monitoring system enabled. Here at Polonia Servers the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the individual services on the dedicated hosting server as well. Backups are also an extra feature - the hosting provider offers you data backups on our own backup servers. You could choose a type of RAID that would permit you to keep the very same data on two disk drives as a precaution in case of a hard disk drive failure, or in case someone whom you have ranted complete root-level access erases something accidentally.
